USA always tried for stopping countries from obtaining nuclear power. Be it North Korea who has been against all the odds of USA had obtained it or be it Iran whom still fighting against them. The major organization in the stopping of countries obtaining nuclear power is CIA. The story of India was no different.
For India the nuclear power and bomb was proposed by Homi Bhabha. He had already working on nuclear power when he proposed the bomb during the India - China war during 1961. After quite a discussion with then prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru the project was sanctioned. Huge ores of thorium and uranium are decided to be taken from Hyderabad. Bhabha started the work.
While CIA always carrying on surviellance activities got the information about India working on the nuclear bombs. They tried to stop the development by multiple times interacting with Bhabha or Nehru. This was later confessed by Robert Crowley who was in charge of the Indian project in an interview. With Bhabha rejecting the advice multiple times.
While the project was ongoing Nehru died with speculations of CIA involved in it. Indira Gandhi daughter of Nehru witnessed it. Later Rajendra Prasad was elected as temporary prime minister of India. Later an India - Pakistan war started and for an agreement Dr Prasad travelled to Tashkent. Reports say that there was a discussion of Prasad with an Russian diplomat for continuing the nuclear bomb project and next day Dr Prasad was found dead in his hotel which too have speculations of CIA involvement.
After all these Indira Gandhi has herself taken the role of Prime Minister of India. He asked Bhabha to continue the project and work on the bomb. Bhabha later travelled to Russia and took help for the technical details of the project from Russian personnels and returned to India. Bhabha carried on the work on the bomb. After some time Bhabha was on a flight which was blown away and also says speculations of a CIA involvement.
After Bhabha, Vikram Sarabhai took charge of the project. But few days later he too died and no one can take out the CIA connection here as well. After it Indira Gandhi was too desperate for the bomb and provided deadline to the then director of the project Dr Ramanna and under him was working A P J Abdul Kalam. Both using the Russian documents were able to formulate and create the first nuclear bomb of India which was tested in Pokhran. The project was named "The Smiling Budha".
After quite some time getting off from the chair of prime minsiter and returning back Indira Gandhi was killed by Khalistani terrorists. This also has claims to have a CIA connection in behind. In between the CIA and USA had been tried to equip Pakistan too with a nuclear bomb and hence helped in formation of the ISI the Pakistani intelligence agency. This was also to counteract RAW the Indian intelligence agency which was formulated on its own. After death of Indira Gandhi CIA under the curtains announced that if anyone from Gandhi family tries to become prime minister again they will be killed. Another big task performed by Indira Gandhi during his tenure was independence of Bangladesh from Pakistan which was too going against the odds of the USA.
Some time later Rajiv Gandhi son of Indira became prime minister and was also killed by LTT which also said to have a CIA connection. After this incident if the congress comes into forming a government they does not select anyone as prime minister from the Gandhi family. Another big event in the nuclear bomb race was Pakistan getting equipped with nuclear bomb in around 1998. This was with the help of USA who supported the Pakistan nuclear project technically to counter act India's nuclear power.
As a consequence India tested the new nuclear bombs also said to have Hydrogen bomb in Pokhran said to be Pokhran II. This resulted in an attack by Pakistan on India under US support. This was the Kargil war in which too Pakistan was defeated. After some time Atal Bihari Bajpayee the then prime minister of India was attacked in Parliament. Reports suggests all these attacks by terrorists are funded by ISI and having indirect involvement of CIA.
Bajpayee survived and India then and through later prime ministers of India have been increasing their nuclear arsenal. This is how the story of India's nuclear bomb is going on till date.
